What Breed is Good For a First Time Show Dog?
I'm planing on getting a Show dog in the next few years, and I have a few questions that you might be able to answer:
-Does size play a part in how easy it is to handle a dog in the ring?
-What are some of the easier breeds to stack?
-I'm only 13 (14-15 by the time I actually get the dog), and I've already trained a few dogs, but should I look into a smaller breed?
Thanks for your help!
Please, don't bash me because I buy purebreds from reputable breeders either.
I understand that firstly a dog is a pet, but some breeds like GSDs can be hard to stack, something easier would probably be a good idea for me.
I haven't really found a heart-breed yet. I've been doing research, and I also like the Pyrenean Shepherd and the Havanese. How difficult is it to handle these three breeds?
Darn thing didn't add. I also like Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.
See its the harder to stack dogs that really make you a handler. A bulldog is one of the hardest to stack correctly, thats one of the breeds I learned on, one of the first I learn to groom a short haired dog on too, yes bulldogs need lots of grooming.
What are some breeds you like? Yes this dog is going to be a pet first so you want a breed that you really like no matter how hard it is to handle them. If you really want to be a handler then you need to learn how to handle hard and easy breeds.
Edit- I don't know about the pyrenean because they are a new breed, but the havanese does take a lot of grooming, if you like grooming then go ahead.
