Painting of cat and woman?
I can't remember the name of the artist but it is a series of prints featuring an art deco style woman wearing what looks like a draped beaded pearl head-dress. She has a black cat, long and lean in the picture. In one of the prints there is a wineglass. Does this sound familiar can anyone think of the artist??? It is NOT Erte'...I think it might be someone from that time or maybe more modern..don't know.
Hello Jaded Ruby Person,
Is the work you are searching for reminiscent of the poster at the following link?
http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Absinthe-Blanqui_i1900428_.htm?aid=96992918
If so, I believe the series you are thinking of is from the late 19 century. The works are from an advertising poster series for Absinthe, an alcoholic liquor with hallucinogenic properties due to a main ingredient; wormwood. The wine glass may actually be an absinthe cordial glass called a Pontarlier.
Many French Lithogerfers were commissioned to create these beautiful art deco advertisements. I would look up the following artist names to find the specific poster series you desire:
Jules Chéret, Cappiello, Privat-Livemont, Lefevre, Nover, Tamagno, & Toulouse Lautrec. I believe the work you are referring to will be found shortly after.
Check out the following website, as this is a great history source as well as providing many images:

I would suggest contacting the above, they may have the best identification tools for you.
If you are in school, or are close to a library, you can access Jstor or ARTstor:

You can search within the database for art samples of the above mentioned artists. You can also search using the key words like 19 century, absinthe, art deco, pearl headdress, woman and cat.
